Wrinkle Correction
Botox was introduced to the world in the late 1980s by ophthalmologists, who began using it to treat optic muscle disorders. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines) in 2002, and its popularity has soared ever since.
Botox is consistently one of the top five non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed each year. In addition to glabellar lines, Botox is used to eradicate crows feet, frown lines and furrows in the forehead. The results with Azzalure can last up to five months.
How it works
Botox works by relaxing the small muscles in the face that cause wrinkles. When we express ourselves we use our facial muscles which, over time, causes lines and wrinkles on the face. Over the years these lines and wrinkles can become deeper and more prominent. When Botox is injected into the face, the skin overlying the muscle appears smoother giving a more youthful appearance. The commonest areas where wrinkles are formed are in the frown area, on the forehead and the crow’s feet.
The effects of Botox wears off after about four months but can last up to five months in some individuals. With regular injections, some people have found that the effects can last longer.’
The Botox is administered using a tiny needle and is practically painless, but a numbing cream can be applied beforehand if required. The treatment takes 15 to 30 minutes. There is no recovery period and you can have the treatment in your lunch hour and return to work straight after.
The effects can take up to two weeks to fully develop, at which time you will receive a free follow-up consultation if required.
PDO Beauty Threads
This is a non-surgical facelift using dissolvable threads.
Polydioxanone (PDO) dissolvable sutures have been used in surgery for many years. These have now been adapted for use in the aesthetic industry.
PDO stimulates the production of new collagen – the protien responsible for the tension and firmness of the skin in addition, stimulation of fibroblasts results in production of elastin whin increases the skin firmness and elasticity.
The sutures are inserted under the skin under local anaesthetic and lift the cheeks, jowls, crepey necks and chins. There is an immediate lifting effect; subsequent collagen and elastin synthesis begin at about days 10-14. The threads dissolve over six months and the resulting aesthetic effects can lasts up to five years.
A whole face lift can be performed in under an hour. There is minimal downtime and minimal bruising compared to a surgical face lift.

Nefertiti Facelift
As we age, gravity drags the malar fat pads in the cheeks and skin overlying the cheeks to down towards the jawline and over the neck. The jawline becomes less well defined. Additionally, the bands stretching from the base of the neck to the lower cheek muscles (called the platysmal bands) – in combination with the downwards movement of the cheek area – cause the skin of the cheek to appear as one continuous flat sheet with the neck.
We can use wrinkle relaxing injections to help to restore the marked contours of the jawline from the chin to the angle of the jaw, resulting in a more attractive, younger profile. This is known as the Nefertiti face lift, named after the Egyptian queen Nefertiti whose face still inspires admiration.
The Nefertiti face lift is a non-surgical facelift. The wrinkle relaxing injections weaken the platysmal bands that drag the superficial muscles downward over the jaw line. In response, the opposing force of the facial muscles will drag the skin back upwards, causing a more obvious jaw line.
